Students in the Field: Reflective Practice Phase in the West Bank

Walking in the West Bank’ is a movie created and produced by Ziad Abbas, Greg Eckart and Pablo Pitcher. This film features six SIT students; Ziad Abbas (Social Justice in Intercultural Relations), Greg Eckart (Conflict Transformation), Pablo Pitcher (Sustainable Development), Eric Maddox (Conflict Transformation), Brian Minor (Sustainable Development), and Chris Cheney (Conflict Transformation), who discuss their practicums in the West Bank. 

 

 

Zeiad, a journalist and filmmaker, is the co-founder and executive director of the Ibdaa Cultural Center at the Dheisheh Refugee Camp in Bethlehem.  This community cultural center provides refugee youth and women with cultural, educational and leadership development activities and serves over 1000 people weekly.  Among the activities offered are dance, art and creative writing programs, international cultural exchange opportunities, media training programs and oral history project with elderly Palestinians, language courses, community organizing workshops for teens, leadership training for girls, a human rights education program and the camp’s only mixed-gender kindergarten as well as a computer and internet center and a women’s center.
